Kenneth Richard Whitehead Obituary
Kenneth Whitehead passed away from cancer on April 17, 2026, at the Red Deer Hospice at the age of 81 years. He was born in Duncan, B.C.
After receiving his B. Ed at the U of A, Ken taught career and technology studies in Edmonton, Fairview, and Rimbey. He retired on his farm East of Innisfail and then moved to Red Deer where he resided until the time of his passing.
Ken is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis; son Jeffrey, who lives in a Red Deer group home; son-in-law Jay Sampson; grandchildren Sable (Matt) Neufeld, Sawyer, Sander, Jonah, and Jack Sampson; and by his siblings Ed (Carol), David, and Grant (Cheryl) Whitehead. He was predeceased by his daughter Susan in 2024; mother Irene (Chudyk) Whitehead when he was 3 yrs old; father Lester (Ted) Whitehead; and by his step mother Doris.
A service for Ken will be held at the Balmoral Bible Chapel, 2700 55 St, Red Deer, AB, on May 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of the flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Ave, Red Deer, AB T4R 3R4, in Ken’s name.
