Cory Daniel Picard Obituary
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Cory Daniel Picard, a beloved son, brother, father and friend, who left this world far too soon at the age of 31, on May 6, 2026, in Edmonton, AB.
Cory was born in Sudbury, Ontario and laid down his roots in Blackfalds, AB. Cherished by parents Kimberley Flasha, Kevin Flasha, big brother to Kayla Flasha, and birth son to Derek Morin. A dear grandson of Pauline Hand, predeceased by Dail Hand; Dennis Flasha, predeceased by Janet Flasha; and Diane Korpela. He will be deeply missed and was loved widely by aunties, uncles, cousins, and his best friends.
Cory had a gift for woodwork and drawing; he loved to create gadgets that could carry a notebook, pen and flashlight all on one keychain. Above all, Cory was a giver, born with endless compassion and accepting of all personalities. Cory’s favourite activities were camping, fishing, gardening, baseball, listening to old-school rap, and becoming friends with animals of every shape and size.
Though Cory faced personal struggles with autism, it did not define the impact he had. His humour was never lost, and he always shared that he loved life. He was gentle and kind, putting others before his own needs and being an advocate for those who faced similar battles. His journey was one of strength and bravery, and he fought to the last moment. Cory said it was his family that gave him strength. He will be remembered for being a big kid with uncontrollable laughter that rippled into his loved ones' hearts, spreading joy and light.
Our doors and hearts are open to all for a celebration of life to be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 6 – McMillan Ave, Red Deer, AB, on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
