Elaine Brusegard Saxton Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of our beloved mother, Nanny, Great-Nanny, and sister, Elaine Brusegard Saxton, who left us peacefully on May 14, 2026, with her daughters by her side.
Born November 15, 1936, in Rossburn, Manitoba, Elaine was the cherished daughter of the late John and Mary Klym. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Anne, and is survived by her loving sisters, Elsie and Nettie.
As a young woman, Elaine moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she married Brian Brusegard and raised her family. Later in life, she was blessed to find love again and married Jim Saxton, who also predeceased her.
A woman of immense compassion and dedication, Elaine pursued a career in healthcare and served her community as a nurse for over 25 years.
Family was the true cornerstone of Elaine’s life. She was a devoted mother to her children: Cheryl (Brian) and Leanne (Don). She was heartbreakingly predeceased by her eldest son, Grant (Michele). Her legacy of love lives on through her five grandchildren who adored their Nanny: Breanne (Brock), Brittany (Stephen), Jordan, Jenna, and Ryan; as well as her three precious great-grandchildren who brought such joy to their Great-Nanny: Kayden, Emery, and Beckham.
Beyond her family and career, Elaine’s absolute happy place was her cabin in Lakeshore Heights, Grand Beach. It was truly the joy of her life—a place of peace, warmth, and beautiful memories her family will cherish forever. She will be profoundly missed, but her kindness and healing spirit will never be forgotten.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sawisky and all of the staff at the Ponoka Long-Term Care Facility for their dedication, kindness, and the exceptional care they gave to Elaine.
A private celebration of Elaine’s life with family and friends will be held on May 30th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elaine’s memory to the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre Auxiliary.Condolences to Elaine’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Elaine Saxton” in the subject line.
