Obituary of Hubert Lamont Gygi

Hubert “Lamont” Gygi of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Reginal Hospital Center on June 18, 2024, at the age of 91 years.

Lamont was born at the Lethbridge hospital June 14, 1933. Later his family later moved to Settler when he was eight years old. In Lamont’s younger years he worked on the oil rigs, before going to work for Gulf Oil. Lamont married Doreen, with a family of six, moved to Edmonton.

Lamont was active in many sports. He enjoyed teaching young men in the church how to curl. Lamont was an active member in the church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints. He had many talents and was a gifted man. Happy crib player and square dancer.

Lamont will be lovingly remembered by his spouse, Doreen; sons Glyn, Robert, Sheldon; daughters and daughters-in-law, Dianne, Brenda, Jacquie, and Jullie; 24 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren, as well as other family and friends.

Lamont was predeceased by his two sisters.

The internment service was held on June 26, 2024, starting at 11:00 am at Alto Reste Cemetery, followed by the memorial service at the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
