Obituary of Robert Lee McAuley
Robert Lee McAuley of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on January 28th, 2025 at the age of 89 years.
He was born, along with his twin sister Beth, at the family farm in McAuley, Manitoba, the family homestead for well over 100 years. Robert moved to Red Deer in his early 20's, where he met and married Lee. Together they share 3 daughters, Cheryl, Carole, and Lisa. He was a terrific girl dad! Over the years his family grew and he was blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren
Robert loved working, right up to the ripe age of 80. Aside from managing Camgard Supplies in Red Deer for many years and later in the oil fields, he busied himself driving coaches for Cadets and Hockey players, as well as being a Projectionist at the Paramount Theater. Come harvest time, he would often head back to the family farm to help tend to the fields with his brothers. It wasn't all work though! He loved camping, a good round of golf and in his younger years, skiing. He was an excellent bowler and a valued member of several leagues. He particularly loved his trips to NC to attend the NASCAR races in Charlotte, where he tended the grill for the tailgating parties. Robert truly appreciated all of his family and friends; those who knew him will remember his firm handshake and gentle demeanor.
Robert is lovingly remembered by his wife Lee; twin sister Beth; daughters and their spouses; grandchildren; and by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Keith, Doug and sister Evelyn.
At his request, a private family service will be held in McAuley, Manitoba at the family farm at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, AB T4R 3S6, or to the Red Deer SPCA, 4505-77th Street, Red Deer AB.
