Obituary of Theodore Joseph Mastaler
Theodore “Ted” Joseph Mastaler passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey, AB on September 22, 2024 at the age of 85 years.
Ted was born on January 8th, 1939, to Bertha and John Mastaler, in Beousejour, Manitoba. Ted and his younger brother Gerry, grew up together on the family farm in Tyndall, Manitoba. After his schooling, he went into the sales field; car sales, Snap-On-Tools, insurance, and even health products, where he earned the nickname “Doc”. He also started a Dance Band called “Silver Tones”.
Over 40 years ago, Ted took the opportunity to move to Stettler, Alberta and started work with Toyota, eventually moving on to Red Deer. While in Red Deer he learned to ball room dance and joined many service clubs including the Full Gospel Businessmen. This is where Ted met his Lord and Saviour, Jesus, and a new journey began.
Ted was the back up director for Red Deer Live-in Society with the Catholic Church, known as a get to know Jesus weekend. Ted and Jan met at the Livingstones church camp meeting weekend, and they quickly became friends as Jan found Ted to be a perfect gentleman and always transparent. Ted and Jan were married on October 7th, 1989. It was the first marriage for them both, and as they were late bloomers they had no children! God knows all things and they were there for one another with both of their journeys with health.
As Ted’s health began to decline, he started Country Sun Rise News. Jan took over the business and overseeing and assisting Ted’s homecare aides for 22 years at home. After Jan had a fall and had spinal injuries, they both required caregiving help. Ted spent the last two years at Rimbey Long Term Care and graduated to heaven on September 22, 2024.
Ted will be greatly missed by his wife Jan, and by his close family members and friends.
A celebration of life for Ted will be held on March 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM, at the Harvest Church, 5237 54 Avenue, Red Deer, AB.
