Obituary of Wayne Hilliard Gordon
Wayne Hilliard Gordon of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025.
Wayne was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to John and Florence Gordon on August 16, 1944. He grew up on a farm just outside of Vanscoy, Saskatchewan. Wayne married Pat Aitken on April 4, 1969, and they were married for 56 years. Together they had five children.
Wayne went to school at both Brigham Young University and the University of Alberta and received his teaching degree. Wayne taught for 30 years in several subjects, but industrial ed was his focus. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, music, and had several other hobbies, but his greatest joy came from time spent with family and friends. Wayne lived a life of service, being involved in scouting and various church responsibilities.
Wayne is survived by his wife Pat Gordon; children, Renee (Bart), Trevor (Vicky), Jason (Kelli), Robbie (Debbie), and Jennie (Trent); grandchildren, Mackenzie, Meghan, Whitney, Lincoln, Casey, Jonas, Jerimiah, Misha, Zachery, Josh, Jacob, Isabell, Elizabeth, Zoey, Parker, and Jillian.
A funeral service for Wayne will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 8 Keast Way, Red Deer AB, on Sunday February 22, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Condolences to Wayne’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Wayne Gordon” in the subject line.
