Obituary of Laurie Ann McAuley

Laurie Ann McAuley of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on March 1st, 2025, at the age of 62.

Laurie was born in the August of 1962, in Calgary, Alberta. She and her brother grew up on the family farm in North Battleford, spending many days out playing by the creek nearby. She moved to Red Deer in 1979.

Laurie loved to travel and to go camping with her dogs, Tango and Baxter. She enjoyed sewing, jewellery, and crafting of any sort. She also loved bright colours and anything sparkly. 

Laurie enjoyed her work in the social fields at Catholic Social Services and a few other agencies; She provided care and help for countless families during her many years in the field.

She was a loving mother of two children and four grandchildren.

Laurie will be lovingly remembered by her son Duncan McAuley; daughter Jamie McAuley; four grandchildren; brother Tim Odnokon; nieces Jessica and CJ; and by many other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Marjorie Odnokon; grandmother Lydia Bazant; Floyd Brulotte; and by Tango.

A celebration of Laurie’s life will be held at the Eastview Estates Community Hall, 120 Ellenwood Dr, Red Deer, on March 14, 2025, at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Red Deer Hospice, or to the Central Alberta Humane Society. Condolences to Laurie’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
