Robert Fyles

Obituary of Robert James Fyles

Robert “Bob” James Fyles of Rimbey, Alberta, passed away at the Rimbey Hospital on March 4, 2025 at the age of 85.
Bob was born on December 17, 1939, in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, and was raised in Piapot, Saskatchewan.

He married the love of his life, Delores Koop, In Chilliwack, BC on June 10, 1961, and they settled in Calgary to raise their family; Barbara, their daughter, born in 1962 and Dana, their son, born in 1963.

Bob was a butcher by trade and ran his own butcher shop in SW Calgary for many years. He also worked at Safeway and Calgary COOP meat departments before trying his hand in sales for Intercontinental meats. Even after retiring, Bob was not content to sit around and relax.  He went to work for Bon Ton Meat Market where he enjoyed the family work atmosphere.

Bob is lovingly remembered as a friendly neighbour who always had time to stop and chat to anyone who was walking by when he was out in his yard. He always had a smile and left everyone with a smile on their face.

Anyone who knew Bob will chuckle at the thought of parking his car with any dirt on it or with an empty tank of gas.  Empty meaning less than 3/4 full.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Delores; daughter Barbara (Russ); son Dana; and by his sister Melvina. Bob was very proud of his 5 Grandchildren, Stefan, Keenan, Amanda, Alyssa, and Beth. And he was very, very proud of his 10 Great Grandchildren.

Bob was seen, by many, walking his beloved dog, Makia, who will truly miss him.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date. Condolences to Bob’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Fyles” in the subject line.
