Obituary of Ellen May Reimer
Ellen May Reimer passed away at the West Park Lodge in Red Deer on April 2, 2025, at the age of 94.
May was born in Melfort, SK on August 7, 1930. May moved to Calgary in the early 1950’s, where she met and married Abraham Reimer. There they built a home and started a family. Many moves later, May and Abe retired to an acreage near Bentley, where they made a home and gathering spot for friends and family. May was always glad to put on the coffee when visitors dropped by. May always had a sizable garden and especially loved her flowers. May had a talent for sewing and a love of reading, also enjoying playing board games and cards. May’s son Barry remembers going berry picking and the tasty results – jams, jellies, and pies. May’s daughter Carol has fond memories of baking with her mom. In later years after being widowed and moving to Red Deer, May and her daughter Leona spent many enjoyable hours watching music DVD’s.
May was predeceased by her husband of 60 years in 2013, and daughter Gloria in 2010.
May will be sadly missed by her daughters Leona Cale of Red Deer, Carol (Keith) Borle of Courtenay B.C.; Son Barry Reimer of Saskatoon, SK; Son-in-law Bryan Wiese of Bentley; Brother Jim (Becky) Melin of Melfort, SK, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
Thank you to the staff at West Park Lodge for their compassionate care of May during her courageous battle with Dementia. May will be missed.
No service will be held.
