Lyall Stambaugh

Obituary of Lyall Alvin Stambaugh

Lyall Alvin “Al” Stambaugh was born October 3, 1936, to Lyall and Linnea Stambaugh in Viking Alberta. Al was raised on a farm in Bruce Alberta, where he attended school and enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, and curling.

Al’s work life with Ackland’s was very successful and he retired after 39 years. Al was an avid golfer and spent many years as a member of the Red Deer Gold & Country Club. Al enjoyed spending his summers at the lake with family and could be found enjoying fishing, campfires, and happy hours with friends. He spent 21 winters in California with Donna and enjoyed golf and the sun.

Al passed peacefully on April 12, 2025, at the age of 88 years, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Center with family at his side. Heartfelt thanks to the staff of unit 22 and 32 for the excellent care he received.

Al will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Donna; daughter, Lori (Ralf) Kaiser of Sherwood Park; son, Doug (Trish) Stambaugh of Lacombe; and three grandchildren, Michael, Brandon and Zachary, as well as other family and friends.

He will be forever in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Service details to follow. Condolences to Al’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Al Stambaugh” in the subject line.
