Obituary of Kenneth James Stock
Kenneth James “Jim” Stock of Red Deer AB died on May 13, 2025 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton AB due to complications during heart surgery.
Jim was a charming character. He was one of the longest serving City of Red Deer employees. Legendary stories emerge when you talk with former co-workers about Jimmy. Abrupt and honest, he would test you and if you passed, you were a friend for life. His days as a young man were filled with baseball, hockey and fishing. Later on, hunting became his passion and every year, there was a moose hanging in his back yard.
To community neighbours, he was known as the guy with the huge garden. Often growing enough for 10 families, he gave most of his harvest away to neighbours, family and friends. In recent years, you would often see Jim at Tim Hortons. He would greet regulars as they walked in. We are going to miss him. See you on the other side Big Brother.
Jim leaves his family, brothers Bill and Glen; sister Dianne, special niece Desiree, life partner Patty (AKA: Sweetie) and many extended family members and close friends. Jim was pre-deceased by his wife Debbie and parents Ken and Anne.
At Jim’s request, there will be no service, only a small family gathering. Don’t send flowers, Jim would look at them with confusion. Do something that counts. Hug and encourage your kids or save a bunch of lives and give blood.
Condolences to Jim’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net . Please indicate “JIM STOCK” in the subject line.
