Obituary of Shannon Leanne Peterson
Shannon Leanne Peterson, Aka Shannon Leannon, aka Shannon Elizabeth, aka The Shannon passed peacefully on May 30, 2025. A woman with nearly as many nicknames as she bestowed. She was an unequivocally beloved wife, mother, grandma (Mammie) sister, aunt, and friend- equal parts kind and mischievous. She had a natural gift to make people feel seen and understood, which made her the first one on everyone’s call lists when they needed a little bit of that coveted Shannon wisdom. It was a gift that made everyone feel important- like family.
Shannon loved being out in nature, tending to her garden, rearranging people’s furniture, travelling the world, connecting with people, and, above all, spending time with the people she loved. She was the life of the party, a spot of sunshine. Her laugh was infectious, and she delighted in coercing people into her plots. In fact, people who had never plotted in their lives suddenly found themselves gleefully entangled in her shenanigans. She had a real sense of joy & play in the world around her, taking in every gift life had to offer. To know her was to love her.
In lieu of flowers or donations please lovingly prank someone or give someone a hug they’ll never forget.
Shannon’s celebration of life will be Friday, June 13th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Balmoral Community Hall. (20, 26553 HWY 11 Red Deer County, Alberta). We ask that you come dressed in bright colors and fun patterns as The Shannon would not have her guests arriving to celebrate her legacy in any other way.
Condolences to Shannon’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net . Please indicate “Shannon Peterson” in the subject line.
