Ronald Myles Soderberg Obituary

Ronald Myles Soderberg passed away at Rimbey Long Term Care, on October 14, 2025, at the age of 73.

Ron was born on July 4, 1952, in Rimbey, Alberta, to Lloyd and Esther Soderberg of the Iola District.

Ron's early years were filled with hard work on the family farm, where his mechanical skills were developed and heavily depended upon. His spare time was spent enjoying the outdoors with family and friends dirt biking, snowmobiling, and playing hockey on the frozen creek. Ron took his education in Iola, Bluffton, and Rimbey, as well as attending Mountain View Bible College. After a few jobs, Ron was hired by Ponoka County, leading to a career that spanned four decades. Driving his gravel truck was his calling. The later years saw him trade his truck for the county’s John Deere tractor, mowing ditches and plowing snow in the west half of Ponoka County.

In 1982, Ron married the love of his life, Laurie Woolf. They lived in the Monte Vista district for a short while before moving back to the family farm. Together they raised their two sons Nathan and Jeremy with a deep-rooted faith and strong work ethic. They taught them, along with countless others, the importance of financial responsibility through their careers with Primerica. In 2001, their family made the decision to move to Rimbey. Even though Ron left the farm, the farmer never left Ron. As they welcomed daughters-in-law Lindsay and Jessica, Ron was thrilled to see his family grow. The addition of grandchildren Hayden, Sophie, and Izzy, was the icing on his chocolate cake of life. Ron continued to enjoy camping trips which usually included dirt-biking and quads. Ron retired in 2022, but, due to their health, he and Laurie were not able to enjoy the retirement they had envisioned for themselves. They did, however, spend as much time as humanly possible with their grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his two sons Nathan (Lindsay) and Jeremy (Jessica); three grandchildren Hayden, Sophie, and Isabel; brother Phil (Brenda); brothers-in-law Roger (Verlynn) Woolf and Danny (Krista) Woolf; sister-in-law Jodie (Dave) Dueck; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, along with a host of cousins.

Ron was predeceased by his wife Laurie on Aug 16, 2025, as well as his sister and brother in-law Barb and Paul Salomons. He was also predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Esther Soderberg, and by in-law’s Fred and Joy Woolf, and nephew Zachary Woolf.
