Mary Alice Cunningham Obituary

Mary Cunningham passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on November 17, 2025 with her family at her bedside at the age of 87.

Mary’s work in the fashion industry gave her the chance to meet many women in Central Alberta. She did many Tri Chem (Liquid Embroidery) parties in the area. After that, she went to work for Pirjo-Liisa. This job was very physical; setting up hundreds of pieces of clothing on racks, and then reloading all the racks back in her truck, and then the drive back to the farm in Eckville at the end. There were many late nights, but she thrived in this environment.

Her love for horses gave her great pleasure, and she raised many in her years. She belonged to many different clubs, such as The Pinto Association, 4-H, and Fur and Feathers. Mary also took great pride for her work on the family farm, paperwork for her Pure-Bred Angus Cows, Bills, Chores, and so on.

Mary’s smile would light up any room. She was very devoted to family and friends, always there to lead a hand anyway she could. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her sons Dan Storms, Ben Storms, Ron Cunningham; daughter Bonnie Schring; brothers Wayne, Tom, Dave, and Doug Watts; sisters Pat Dell, Norma Hoskins, and Donna Dykes; grandchildren Charlene, Julie and Dustin; and by her two great grandchildren Samantha and Issabell. She was predeceased by her parents Jack and Mildred Watts; her bother Bill Watts; and by Harvey (Donnie) Watts.

Following Mary’s wishes, no service is to be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Central Alberta Cancer Centre, 3942 50A Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 4E7, or to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, through their website at www.kidney.ca.

Condolences to Mary’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Mary Cunningham” in the subject line.
