Obituary of Floyd Edward Sebry
Floyd Edward Sebry of Ponoka, Alberta passed away at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the age of 90 years.
Floyd was born in 1930 in Veteran, Alberta. He married the love of his life, Elsie (Mantai), in Wetaskiwin. The couple moved to Drayton Valley, where Floyd was employed with Gulf Oil.
The first of Floyd and Elsie’s four children arrived in 1957 with the birth of son Larry. The next year, 1958, the family moved to Falun, Alberta to begin farming. In 1959, a second son, Randy, was born. In 1960, daughter Karen was born. To complete the family, son Darcy was born in 1964.
The family left the farm and moved to Red Deer in 1976. Floyd worked at a gravel pit at Blackfalds for Burnco for years. In 1985, Floyd and Elsie moved to an acreage at Joffre.
Over the years, Floyd and Elsie were blessed with seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Floyd and Elsie retired and moved to Lacombe, where they resided and shared retirement together. Floyd’s last years were spent in Lacombe Lodge and Points West in Wetaskiwin.
Floyd is lovingly remembered by sons Larry (Shelley) Sebry, Randy (Shelley) Sebry and Darcy (Cynthia) Sebry; daughter Karen Sebry (Shultz); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother Walt Sebry. He was predeceased by parents Edward and Cora Sebry, and wife Elsie Sebry.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
