Obituary of Kenneth (Kenn) Leslie Swanson

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Kenneth (Kenn) Leslie Swanson on April 9, 2021 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital.

Kenn was born in February 1953 at the Red Deer Hospital, growing up on 41 Avenue in the Mountview area. In the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, Kenn played in several bands and was heavily involved in the music scene. He was passionate about music and loved to discuss it with others.

In later years, Kenn enjoyed a good round of golf with friends. He was a lifelong Oilers fan and always enjoyed cheering them on.

Kenn’s working years were spent at Border Paving and Peavey Industries; at each workplace he made lifelong friends. He was a loving husband and a true and loyal friend, brother and brother-in-law. If you ever needed help, Kenn would be there. Since Kenn was the only boy in the family, he was protective and ever so proud of his sisters.

In the last few years, as Kenn faced several health challenges, he maintained a positive attitude and always believed his condition would improve.

Kenn is survived by his wife Kris; his six sisters Shirley (Al) Cade, Jeannette, Kathy, Wendy (Rod) Trentham, Chris Sisson, and Patricia (Kenneth) Wessel; Kris’s family Jan Bowman, Judy and Harold Holden, and Steve and Brenda Sulz; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Our family chain is broken and nothing will be the same, but what we keep in memories remains ours forever.

Kenn’s family would like to thank Dr. Charles Metcalfe and the Red Deer Cancer Clinic for their kind and professional care.

In accordance with Kenn’s wishes, no formal service will be held.

If friends so desire, donations in Kenn’s memory may be directed to The Lung Association, Alberta and NWT, 208, 17420 Stony Plain Road NW, Edmonton AB, T5S 1K6; or the Central Alberta Cancer Centre, PO Bag 5030, Red Deer AB, T4N 4E7.

Condolences for Kenn’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
