Obituary of Robert Lefley
Robert William Arthur Lefley (Alias: “L.P.” to his Pine Lake Family)
October 7, 1955 – December 30, 2022
Robert William Arthur Lefley passed away on December 30, 2021 at his home near Pine Lake, Alberta.
Rob was born in Drumheller, Alberta on October 7, 1955 – the third child of Tom and Jean (Mackie) Lefley. The family moved to Hanna, Alberta in 1959 and then to Calgary in 1967, where they remained for many years.
Rob is survived by his son David, father Tom and step-mother Eileen Lefley of Drumheller; older siblings Tanis Lefley-Martin of Airdrie, Alberta and Jack (Anne) Lefley of Toronto; two nieces; one nephew; three great-nieces and one great-nephew; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Rob was predeceased by his younger brother David in 1975 and his mother Jean (Mackie) Lefley in 1977.
A person might say that Rob bulldozed through his life, always marching to the beat of a different drum – HIS DRUM. He participated in many sports throughout his life and loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He was a butcher, a baker, a roofer, a carpenter, a lover of animals and kids. Most people who really knew him would say that he always put on such a “rough and tough exterior” but really had a marshmallow interior; there weren't many things he couldn’t do or wouldn’t do for his friends.
Rob loved the Pine Lake area since he was a young boy attending “Camp Gordon,” where his Grandmother used to cook and his Dad was a camp counsellor. His loud outgoing personality along with his contagious laughter and outrageous sense of humour gave him a personality that will never to be forgotten by all that knew him; i.e. his doctor, his pharmacist, all his friends and especially his family. He was quite the renegade, but that is how he chose to live his life – he “did it his way” (he admitted – not always the right way) from beginning to end. He will be missed by many.
