Christina Anne Meyn

Obituary of Christina Anne Meyn

Christina Anne Meyn (aka Auntie Weenie)

After a lengthy battle with cancer, Christina Anne Meyn passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on December 28, 2021 at the age of 53.

Christina, born in April 1968 to Janet and Kenneth Meyn in Stettler, Alberta, and immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. Christina grew up in Red Deer, Alberta, attending elementary and junior high school in Red Deer at G. H. Dawe Community School, then went on to graduate with honours from Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High school in 1986. After graduating from high school, Christina went on to pursue a degree in accounting at Lethbridge University.

Christina was a fiercely dedicated mom to her only child, Christopher George Meyn (b. May 1983), raising him to go on to accomplish great things. Family came first and was above all else to Christina, a value she instilled in all those around her. She was supportive, kind, hilarious, and witty.

Christina cultivated many friends who felt like family at her jobs over the years. From the Red Deer Lodge (Reflections), to Molly B’s (Red Deer Legion), to Pharmasave, and finally to Costco. She made a lasting impression on everyone she crossed paths with. Her laugh would fill the room and she had a love of life that is unmatched.

The hole in our hearts left by her absence is impossible to fill and we will all miss her dearly.

Christina was predeceased by mother and father, Janet (d. 2011) and Kenneth (d. 2002) Meyn. She is survived by her son Christopher George Meyn and his partner Jile; her sister Pam Leis and her partner Dennis; her brothers Danny and Kent Meyn; her lifelong friend and cousin Shelly Eckenswiller and her children Justin, Brett, and Samantha; as well as many cousins, extended family, and friends.

Christina requested a celebration of life be held in her honour as opposed to a traditional funeral service.
