Obituary of Elizabeth Hein
Elizabeth Hein of Calgary AB passed away peacefully with family by her side on October 12, 2022 at the age of 83 years.
Elizabeth was born in Zaporizhzhia USSR on August 16th 1939. She came to Canada in 1948, landing in Montreal then on to Alberta. Mom and her family moved to Winnipeg in 1951. Elizabeth graduated from Tec Voc in 1958 with secretary training. She was proud of her secretary work. Elizabeth was employed with the Winnipeg School Division (No. 1) for 37 years.
She married Hartwig in 1971. They bought a house in 1972 where she lived for fifty years. In her retirement she and Hartwig enjoyed traveling, to the east and west coasts of Canada with the motor home, Cuba, Mexico, Jamaica, Las Vegas, Germany, and an Alaskan cruise. Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with her friends and looked forward to their daily phone calls. Generous with her time, she volunteered with the activities of the First Mennonite church and the CP group among other personal commitments. She was most proud and supportive of her two grandchildren Naomi and Zack.
Elizabeth will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lydia and her two grandchildren Naomi and Zack. She was predeceased by her father Daniel in 1974; her mother Maria in 1963; her brother Hans in 2004 and her husband Hartwig in 2010.
Known as Liz, Betty, Mom, or Oma - her sweet, gentle loving spirit will be missed.
