Obituary of Florence Melvina Rowe Hanson

Florence began her life journey in Rutland, B.C. on August 5th, 1929. She grew up in Grandview Flats, B.C. (North Okanagan) and Whiterock, B.C. with her parents and 5 siblings. Florence always had fond memories of attending High School at Canadian Union College (now Burman University) in Lacombe, AB. As a young adult, Florence moved to Sidney on Vancouver Island and worked as a Nurse Assistant. There, she married in 1955 and raised her children. Her six children were her life’s work, and she loved each one unconditionally. She returned to Central Alberta in 1981, where she lived her remaining years.

Florence’s faith and church were very important to her, and she attended the SDA church her entire life. She always had a warm and welcoming home and loved to host gatherings of family and friends. She was generous with her time and her heart. Her favorite hobby was gardening and those who knew her delighted in her flower beds. She left an indelible mark on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who will remember her gentle ways with love.

Florence will be lovingly remembered by her children: Sonja Wallace (Brian), Jacqueline Joneson (Larry), Kenneth Hanson, Londa Hanson (Eric Bird), Shanna Ganson (Gerald), and Russell Hanson; grandchildren: Jenessa Joneson (Kevin), Devan Joneson (Noelle), Justin Brown (Emily), Jordan Brown (Rana), Ashleigh Sell (Tyson), Joel Ganson and Sarah Wallace; great grandchildren: Jude Sell, Eden Sell, and Finn Joneson and sisters-in-law: Lavin Rowe, and Ligaya Rowe.
