Obituary of Loretta Hodgkinson
Loretta Hodgkinson of Red Deer AB, our friend, wife, mother, sister, and grandma, passed away suddenly at the age of 76 years while visiting family.
Loretta enjoyed her family and especially having them all together on holidays with the smell of turkey in the home and lots of deserts and pickles. Everyone always wanted to take a jar of her home-made beet pickles home with them.
Loretta was very skilled in many ways, one being hair dressing. She graduated from the Red Deer School of Beauty and continued cutting hair for many years. She also was a business partner and later became interested in genealogy. She also loved travelling and visited many places in the States. She opened her house to many over the years and will be missed by all who knew her.
Loretta will be lovingly remembered by her husband Dee Hodgkinson; her three sons Shane, Eric, and Rodi Dubois; two daughters Shelley Baker, and Tracey Dubois; brother John Bourne; sisters Mary, Bernice, and Ida Bourne; as well as her eleven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Loretta was predeceased by her sister Rose Carnpaue; parents Betty and David Bourne; grandson Nate Dubois; and great grandchildren Lacey Baker, and twins Trevor and Tyson Baker.
A private family service to celebrate Loretta’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation through their website at https://www.albertacancer.ca, or to Diabetes Canada through their website at https://diabetes.ca. Condolences to Loretta’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Hodgkinson” in the subject line.
