Terry Steinke

Obituary of Terry Steinke

Terry Steinke of Red Deer AB passed away at his home on February 24, 2023 at the age of 73 years. Terry was born on July 1, 1949 to Henry and Emma Steinke in Dominion City, Manitoba, where he grew up amongst 12 brothers and sisters. At the age of 24, Terry, with his twin brother Brian, moved to Calgary, Alberta. Over the years, Terry pursued his studies in the field of engineering at SAIT and worked as a sheet metal mechanic.

However, it was after he moved to Red Deer, Alberta, where he met the love of his life Valerie Lamont, that  life ultimately began. Terry and Valerie’s love quickly flourished, and they married in 1980. They were rejoiced, on December 23, 1980 to welcome a Christmas gift of twin boys, Darin and Curtis. The family was made complete with the arrival of a beautiful baby girl, Nicole, on October 8, 1985.

Terry had a great love of sports and imparted this with his children, spending his spare time sharing his knowledge of golf, pool, and football.

Terry is survived by his wife Valerie; sons Darin (Lisa) and Curtis (Melissa); daughter Nicole (Brad) and six grandchildren, Jordyn, Mackenzie, Parker, Isaac, Tegan, and Tyler. Also to cherish Terry’s memory are four brothers, Brian, David, Larry, and Glenn; two sisters Marilyn, and Jocelyn as well as numerous other family members and friends.

We were not ready for Terry to go.  He left a strong mark in our lives, and he will be deeply missed by his dear friends and family.

An informal gathering to celebrate Terry’s life will be held at the Red Deer Legion, 2810 – Bremner Ave, Red Deer AB on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the MS Society of Canada.
