Obituary of Darell Herbert Woods
Darell “Woody” Woods of Clive, Alberta, passed away due to cancer, at the Red Deer Hospice on May 29, 2023, at the age of 65.
Woody was born on March 20, 1958, to Herbert and Edith Woods and was raised on a farm between Bentley and Lacombe. In his early adult years, he lived a wild and carefree life – if one is to believe all the stories. Eventually he did settle down in Clive, where he has lived for the past 40+ years.
Known as a Jack of all Trades, but primarily as a welder, he was never one to shy away from a day’s work. He would always say “I can fix anything but a broken heart”. Whether he knew you for 40 years or 40 minutes, he was always there to help if needed; his door was always open for anyone to stop by for coffee, beer, or a bite to eat.
Woody leaves behind his sons Devon and Jordan (Kyrstin); grandsons Micah and Elliot; aunt Doreen and uncle Jim; cousins Steven and Michael; nephew Brian; and lifelong friend Peter (Pedro). Woody also leaves behind a circle of loyal friends. Most notably Shawn and Tina, who were there for whenever needed. Last but not least, his loyal companion – his cat Sid.
As per Woody’s wishes, no formal service is to be held. An unofficial celebration will take place at a later date, wherein beers will be cracked, and good laughs will be had, just as he had asked. Condolences to Woody’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Woods” in the subject line.
