Daphne Davis

Obituary of Daphne Ann Davis

Oh no, look who f$#@ing died…..me, Daphne!

Daphne Davis (Thompson) was born in Red Deer on September 14, 1958 (another beautiful daughter for Dell and Ruby Thompson) and passed away on July 07, 2023 from Ovarian cancer.

I lived in Red Deer my entire life. Along my journey I attended Mountview Elementary, Eastview Junior High and Lindsay Thurber High School where I completed the Beauty Culture program and graduated in 1976.

Over the years I worked in numerous salons eventually opening my own salon (Bangs and Company in 1981). I made good friends over the many years in the hairstyling industry.

In 2000 I became a Family Day Home Provider which I think was my true calling. I still have beautiful memories of all the families that passed through my home.

Over the years I have had some very special groups in my life. Starting with C.G.I.T. (Canadian Girls in Training) with some of the girls I first met in kindergarten and are friends to this day.

Then TGIF became a part of my life in 1991 where I made numerous lifelong friends…..houseboat trips, camping and of course cocktails every Friday night.

I was also involved in a clothing club for many years with one of the highlights being a trip to Puerto Vallarta.

In 2009 I found my passion for quilting. If you have one of my quilts, please cherish it forever. I made charity quilts every year with the money going to numerous charities.

With a saddened heart I leave behind the love of my life Stan (the man) Davis. We were married June 23, 1995 and Stan opened his arms to my two young sons.

I also leave behind my first son, Brandon Stephan, married to Kaela who have three amazing children. Isabelle, Xaver and Zander.

My second son, Donovan, married to Lauren. Who also have 3 amazing children that I was fortunate enough to meet…..Jasper and twin girls, Emilia and Nadine.

I also leave behind my 2 brothers, Vaughn (Gale), David (Audrey) and my sisters Dawn (Irvine), Marie and Pam (Deya) and of course numerous nieces and nephews.  Also Stan’s siblings, Lorraine (Dave), Larry, Bill (Pam), Rod (Melody) and numerous stepbrothers and sisters.

Predeceased by my Dad (Dell) and Mom (Ruby).

I led a very full and meaningful life. I will not be having a funeral or Celebration of Life so to those that really knew me please mix my favourite drink on a Friday night and cheers!

I would like to acknowledge some special friends in my life. Marnie/Jeff Ackerman, Jody/Randy VanParys, Sandy/Jesse Von Hollen and Candi

Bingham.

Lastly thank you to some very special people who have helped me both emotionally and physically over the past six years (you know who you are) and Stan, you were my rock…..I could not have done this without you.

If you wish to make a donation please consider the Ronald McDonald House, Stollery Children's Hospital, the Red Deer Cancer Centre or the Red Deer Hospice Society.

Love Daphne.

Condolences to Daphne’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Davis” in the subject line.
