It was a joyous day when John Patrick McCarty, affectionately known as Jack or lovingly referred to as Pa Jack by his family, came into this world. On July 27, 2023, he left behind cherished memories in the hearts of all who knew him. Jack's journey began in Edmonton, followed by a childhood in Big Valley. Eventually, he found his home in Red Deer, where he touched the lives of many with his kind and compassionate nature.

John was predeceased by Margaret (Peggy) Lindholm, whose memory he held close throughout his life. He was also preceded in death by his siblings; father Edward McCarty, Jimmy McCarty, and Tommy McCarty, all of whom undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms in the afterlife.

Jack's love extended far and wide, as evidenced by the treasured relationships he had with his children: Cindy Wood and his late son, Lyle McCarty. His heart swelled with pride for his grandchildren, Alex, Jared, and Jeff (Laura), who brought immeasurable joy to his life.

Family was at the core of Jack's being, and he adored his stepchildren: Marilyn (Barry) Roche, Larry (Kristi) Lindholm, and Debbie (Dave) Miller. They formed a tight-knit bond, proving that love knows no boundaries.

Jack's parents, Dennis and Mary McCarty, raised him with values that shone through in every aspect of his life. His caring nature was evident in how he touched the lives of his step-grandchildren, Bryce, Kaylyn, Jennifer, and Joline, who all held a special place in his heart.

A man of varied passions, Jack found solace in the thrill of rodeos and the soul-stirring melodies of music. His heart of gold and infectious smile could light up the darkest of rooms, leaving lasting impressions on everyone he encountered.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Jack's honor on Septemer 30, at 1:00 PM, at The Hideout, 411 Lantern St, Red Deer County. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in memory of Jack directly to Red Deer Hospice (https://reddeerhospice.com/) or the Edmonton Cowboys Benevolent Foundation c/o CPRA at 272245 Range Road 292 NE Airdrie AB T4A 2L5.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Red Deer Hospice for their compassion and support during Jack's final days.

In the wake of Jack's departure, may we find comfort in the beautiful memories he left behind, and may his spirit continue to shine bright in our hearts.

Condolences to Jack’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net, indicating “McCarty” in the subject line.
