Obituary of Margot Alicia Brunner-Campbell

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Margot Brunner-Campbell at the University of Alberta Hospital on July 27, 2023, at the age of 61. She passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side.

Margot was born in Edmonton, Alberta, before moving with her adopted family to Red Deer and then to Lacombe. Margot received a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Education Administration from U of A. She worked as a Student Service Provider and Academic Advisor for fifteen years at Grande Prairie Regional College, before returning to the University of Alberta to complete a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Nursing.

Upon obtaining her nursing degree, Margot took a role as Team Leader at Michener Extendicare in Red Deer, before moving back to Edmonton and assuming the role of Executive Director for Voice of Albertans with Disabilities (VAD). Margot was an active member of the Council of Canadians with Disabilities (CCD). She sat on the Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefit committee as CCD’s Representative. Margot was a member of CCD’s Elders Council and had a long history of involvement with CCD.

Margot was a caring person and gave to others before herself. She was a role model and mentor to many, providing support to those around her.
