Obituary of Gertrude Shirley Hunt

Gertrude Shirley Hunt of Lacombe passed away at the Lacombe Hospital on October 12, 2023, at the age of 96.

Gertrude was born on January 10, 1927 in Loyalist, Alberta. She loved crossword puzzles, gardening, roses, and dogs. She was a skilled baker, and made the best Lemon Meringue pie in the world! Gertrude had a great sense of humor – her favorite saying was “more guts than a sausage”! She would also let you know you were a “Stunned Banana” if you did something foolish.

Gertrude was predeceased by her husband, Robert, and two sons Terry and Tony. She is survived by her daughter Rhonda, 4 grandchildren Oliver, Matthew, Arthur, and Sean as well as 7 great-grandchildren.

A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to The Alzheimer’s Society of Red Deer & Central Alberta. Condolences to Gertrude’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Hunt” in the subject line.
