Obituary of Daniel Jamieson George
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our brother and son, Daniel Jamieson George on the 29th of November 2023.
Daniel was born in Bathurst, NB where he lived only a short time before moving with his family to Alberta. But we would still give him honorary “Maritimer” status!
Dan was a quiet and very private man who kept much of his life to himself and letting us in when he felt we needed it. He had a kind heart and gentle spirit and always had time to chat with his neighbors and those he met on his walks. He enjoyed a passion for cooking and in his earlier years, loved being in the kitchen. Daniel found comfort and peace in capturing nature and using it to express himself; bunnies were his favorite creature.
Though Dan was known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor; he struggled for many years with chronic pain and health related issues.
Daniel will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his parents, Bob George and Diane George of Red Deer; his two sisters Cynthia (Rick) Gauvreau of Sherwood Park, and Jennifer Leonard of Calgary; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Daniel was predeceased by his grandparents Julio & Lisa Tonell and Frank & Bertha Soboda.
A memorial gathering will be held by the kind folks and friends at City Roast Coffee, 4940 – 50 St, Red Deer, on Saturday December 16, 2023 at 3:00pm. Family would love your support. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 300 – 10010 105 Street NW, Edmonton AB, T5J 1C4 or by email to donation@cmha-edmonton.ab.ca. Condolences and sharing to the family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net, please indicate “George” in the subject line.
