Obituary of Sylvia Harriet Emma White
It is with very heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mom, Sylvia Harriet Emma Knebush White on February 7, 2024 at the age of 83 years. A cherished mom, Gramma and Great Gramma.
Sylvia was born July 8, 1940 in Regina, SK. Sylvia developed a love of animals and gardening from her amazing parents Walter and Verna Knebush who treasured and loved her completely. She enjoyed her 4H steers and all the work that went with it. She was very proud that she rode her horse to school in the summer and in the winter the Bombardier picked her and her brother Delmur up. Sylvia was an extremely hard worker all her life and she had a feisty fun personality right to the end. She loved her country music, and The Price is Right, I would try and have it on for her in the mornings and she would light right up.
Sylvia married Carl Arthur White and they had four children Brant, Clayton, Brendon and Naomi. They moved a lot in the early married years but finally settled in Blackfalds in the early 70’s and then Lacombe.
Sylvia had a number of loves, travelling the world (but she hated planes, only loved where they got her) flashy clothes, shoes and hats but nothing compared to her love for her family and particularly her five grandsons, Chase, Wyatt, Zane, Brant and Jared. She had no problem taking all five boys to the movies, for ice cream, to the go carts, mini golf, the boys have so many fun memories of her and the fun she had with them. She never missed any of their sports from hockey, soccer, baseball, lacrosse to the bucking broncs. Many people will remember her best cheering them on from the sidelines and of course in a cute hat, probably fur coat, winter boots but no socks!
Sylvia is survived by her son Brendon (Joan) and Brant, daughter Naomi (Ted), Chase (Makenzie), Wyatt (Britni) and Layton, Zane and (Hailee) and Maicee. Her dearest and truest friend of over 70 years, Marjorie Campbell. A sister Darcy Burkett (Bill) and brother Bob (Darlene) Peace whom she found later in life. Syliva was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Verna Knebush, her two sons Brant and Clayton and her grandson Jared.
At this time, we come to celebrate the beautiful life that Sylvia led and the light she shone on those around her. There will be no funeral service, a private gathering will be held at a later date.
