Obituary of Kendall "Bill" William Waiting
With heavy hearts we regret to announce the peaceful passing of Bill Waiting on April 18, 2024 at the age of 80 years, beloved husband of Lotte Waiting (nee Buron) of Red Deer, Alberta formerly of Assiniboia, SK.
Bill was born in Limerick, Saskatchewan in 1943 and grew up on the family farm southeast of Limerick. Working on the farm, Bill developed an extremely strong work ethic at a very young age which was the foundation of his successes in life. He was an entrepreneur at heart operating “Waiting’s Farm and Auto Supply” (Napa) as well as several other agricultural related businesses for over 35 years in Assiniboia Sk while continuing to farm.
Bill was very supportive of his children and was proud of the people they became. He loved his grandchildren and had a special connection with each of them. Bill valued his relationships with extended family and friends. His generosity and willingness to help was unparalleled, always putting others before himself.
Bill was everyone’s “go to” person for anything that needed fixing knowing he would persevere and always figure things out. He was unquestionably reliable, direct and to the point always calling a spade a spade. Bill’s quick-witted sense of humor brought countless laughs even in his final days.
Lovingly remembered by Lotte, his wife of nearly 58 years, he is also survived by his son Curtis William Waiting (Heather Ponath); daughters Lisa Adamson (Laurie Adamson), and Jennifer Swenson (Greg Swenson); 7 grandchildren, Cole, Nevada, Alexa, John, Annika, Danielle, Ryan; 6 brothers, Jim Waiting (Louise), David Waiting, Keith Waiting, Robert Waiting (Wendy), Kim Waiting (Sue), Terry Waiting (Tammy); and sister Charlotte Waiting.
Bill was predeceased by his father, John Kendall Waiting and his mother, Irene May Waiting, both of Limerick, Saskatchewan.
We will all miss his legendary one liners, smart cracks and his ability to fix any and everything. Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Assiniboia, Sk on Saturday July 27, 2024 at 2:00 pm followed by an informal gathering of family and friends at the Limerick Hotel bar. Bill would be happy to know that no farming activities were disrupted on his account. We can all raise a glass to Bill, share stories and tell a few lies.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial donations be directed to the Red Deer Hospice Society, where Bill spent his final days, 99 – Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, AB, T4R 3S6 (www.reddeerhospice.com)
Condolences and the sharing of memories may be directed to Bill’s family by emailing meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Waiting” in the subject line.
