Barbara Quaife

Obituary of Barbara Lynn Quaife

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Barbara Lynn Quaife (nee Paterson). She passed away from the arms of her family into the arms of her Lord on June 29, 2024, at the age of 69.

Barb was born on May 11, 1955, and was raised in Calgary, Alberta. Her childhood was full of memories that she always cherished, and she accepted Christ into her life as a young child. In 1973, she met the love of her life, Ken, and they were married on May 1, 1976. They moved to Red Deer in 1977, where they raised their three children and built a community of lifelong friends.

Barb worked for many years at Scotiabank and Red Deer Chiropractic. A trip to the store always meant that Barb would see a client, and she always stopped to visit with them for a few minutes. Spending a few minutes to brighten someone else's day is what brightened Barb's day.

Barb had a huge heart that was filled with love and kindness for her family and friends. She found great joy in the simple things in life: a walk with family members, watching the geese, making dinner for friends, and watching her grandchildren grow and succeed. The world is a better place because of Barb.

Barb is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Ken; children Krista (Ernest), Bryan (Lindsey), and Janelle. She is the grandmother to five grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Ayanna (18), Jeremy (15), Adam (12), Aris (17), and Natasha (17). Also left to mourn Barb are her mother Evelyn (Herb); sister Kathy (George); brother Doug (Joelle); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a large community of friends. We are all blessed to have known Barb.

Barb was predeceased by her infant son, Ryan James, her father, James Paterson, and three brothers-in-law.

We are grateful for the care Barb received at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, University of Alberta Hospital, and Grey Nuns Community Hospital.

A celebration of Barb's life will be held in the Chapel of the CrossRoads Church, (SW corner of 32 St and highway 2), 38105 Range Road 275, Red Deer County, AB on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. For those planning on attending, please enter the church by the northeast “Chapel” doors.

In lieu of flowers, we ask you to remember Barb while filling your heart and the hearts of those you love through a selfless act.

Condolences to Barb's family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate "Quaife" in the subject line.
