Vernon Andrew Peterson Obituary

Vernon Andrew Peterson of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the West Park Lodge on July 20, 2024, at the age of 91 years


Vernon (Dad) was born June 21, 1933, in Oyen Alberta. He was raised by his father after his mom passed in 1941. After graduating high school, he went to SAIT, where he became a radio operator and started his career with Transport Canada.


Vern met the love of his life Doreen in Fort Smith. They married in Vancouver BC, in 1957. Together they raised 4 children, Brian, Brenda, Carol, and Gordon.


Vern retired in 1988, in Red Deer. Vern and Doreen continued to travel the world until 2016. Vern enjoyed many hunting adventures. Taking Kelly and Kasi out for their favourite pastime. Dad was a kind, loving man and he will be missed by all who knew him.


Vern will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Gordon (Shannon) Peterson, Brian (Sharon) Peterson; daughters, Carol (Ron) Villeneuve, Brenda Peterson; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, as well as other family and friends.


Vern was predeceased by his wife, Doreen Peterson; grandson, Ben Villeneuve; brother, Alan Peterson; parents, Clarence Peterson and Mary Ethel Andrew.


A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Canadian Mental Health Association or Heart and Stroke Society.
