Obituary of Alma Joyce Blundon

Alma Joyce Blundon of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on September 16, 2024, at the age of 87.

Alma was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan, in 1937, and was raised in Mission, BC, after the family moved there in 1948. In 1966, Alma married Robert Riggins, and together they had two sons, Ferrin and Bradley. Alma married George Blundon in 1994, and together they shared many new life experiences travelling across North America and Mexico.

Alma was a hairstylist by trade, and she was also a business owner. Her business, Mobile Beauticians, catered to the elderly and those who were not ambulatory. She was a member of the Mission Curling Club for many years, and also played for a number of local bowling teams. Some of Alma’s greatest loves in life were her family, friends, and music. She was outgoing, and always willing to do anything she could for people in need. She had an infectious personality and was loved by everyone she met.

Alma will be lovingly remembered by her husband George Blundon; sons Ferrin and Bradley Riggins; daughter-in-law Rhona Riggins-Roberts; brother, Harold Desjardins; sisters, Bernice Northrop, Joyce Janus, and Marie Hanni; nine grandchildren, Braedon Riggins, Shayla Riggins, Alexander Riggins, Alyssa Lussier, Quinton Blundon, Brooker Blundon, Maddie Blundon, Kasey Wood, and Zachary Wood; as well as by her eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and May Desjardins; and brothers Howard and Bill.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Red Deer Hospital’s unit 33 for the care and compassion they showed towards Alma during her final days.

A private family service to celebrate Alma’s life will be held at a later date. Condolences to Alma’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Blundon” in the subject line.
