Obituary of Ronald Joseph Sheplawy
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ron Sheplawy, of Delburne, Alberta, announces his passing at Red Deer Regional Hospital on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the age of 79 years.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jan, his daughters Lori, Danielle (Shane), and Shannon, and his son Eric (Sandi). He also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Anthony, Jared, Mackenzie, Carter, Rylee, and Talon, as well as one great-grandchild, Paisley; his sister Dorene, sister-in-law Vera, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Ron was predeceased by his son John, his brother Jim, brother-in-law Eric, and his parents, Maryann and Anthony.
Ron was born in St. Paul, Alberta, and raised in Lindbergh, Alberta, where he developed his strong work ethic and love for family and the outdoors. He was a man of many talents and passions. After retiring in 2015, from a 35-year career as a welder—a profession he took great pride in—he turned his focus to carving, a hobby he discovered while spending time in Texas. His intricate carvings became treasured gifts to friends and family, with his works spreading across Canada, the United States, and even reaching England.
Ron’s joy for life was infectious. Family was at the heart of everything Ron did, whether it was camping trips with loved ones or days spent fishing or hunting. He was always quick with a smile and a hearty greeting of “Happy Saturday!” no matter the day of the week. Ron’s warmth, generosity, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held at the Delburne Community Hall, 2034 – 21 Ave, Delburne, AB on November 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Delburne Centralized School “Breakfast Program”, 2611 - 18 St, Delburne, AB, 403-749-3838 in Ron’s honour.
