Obituary of Michael Maxwell Wayne Simpson

Michael was born in Bonnyville, Alberta on February 11, 1985. Shortly after he moved to Sundre, Alberta where he resided until his passing on October 22, 2024.

Mike attended school in Sundre from kindergarten until graduation. As a child Mike loved WWF wresting; his phrase was “Macho Man” Randy Savage. He loved to torment his sisters with his surprise wrestling moves. Mike played hockey from age 6 – 16 and loved being part of a team. He always looked out for his teammates.

After graduation Mike went to work in the oilfield industry, mostly pipelining and then after a few years he moved to Edmonton to work in construction. Building a state-of-the-art recycling plant. In 2018, Mike moved back to Sundre after the sudden passing of his dad. His most recent work was for Out West Contracting. Doing construction, shingling, eavestrough, and renovations. He enjoyed going to work and learning many valuable skills.

Michael has had 2 great loves in his life. His first dog Muska and present dog Moxie. Mike was an avid skateboarder and spent a lot of his free time skateboarding. Mike taught Moxie to pull him on it when he got tired. He also was passionate about woodworking and had a special talent for creating designs for tables. Mike looked forward to spending time with his family, especially enjoyed playing with his nephews and nieces.

Mike is survived by his mother Rhonda Barber; sister Alicia (Claude); brother Colin (Breanne); fur buddy Moxie as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Mike was also lucky enough to have an extended family; stepmother Diane and sisters Melissa (Darrell) and Danielle (Don). Mike will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by everyone who knew him.
