Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth Glasgow
Margaret Elizabeth Glasgow of Innisfail, Alberta passed away peacefully in Innisfail, Alberta on Nov 1, 2024, at the age of 98 years.
.
Margaret was born in Olds, Alberta on March 29, 1926 to Albert and Elizabeth Whitelock who homesteaded 7 miles west and 2 miles south of Bowden in 1893. Margaret grew up with four brothers and two sisters.
Margaret always loved the farm and was very fond of animals, especially horses. How fortunate she had this love for she rode horses 3 miles each day with her siblings to attend school at Berrydale and Red Lodge.
After Margaret left the family home she worked at the Olds Creamery grading eggs; back then eggs were 25¢ a dozen. She also worked at the Eagle Hill Co-op and was a cook at a logging camp west of Sundre.
She soon met Jim Glasgow through their shared love of music and dancing. Jim was a farmer and lived six miles west of where she was raised. Jim was also from a family of seven. Jim & Margaret married on July 9, 1947 and lived on a farm for many years welcoming six children; five sons and a daughter, Brian, Neil, Randy, Dale, Debbie and Aaron.
In 1972 Margaret started work at the Alberta Nursery and finished in 1986.
In 1976 Jim had a stroke and was in long term care for five years. Margaret rented out a portion of the farm and in 1990 decided to build a new house as Jim wanted to come home. She had a vision, and with the help of her family and friends they accomplished this huge undertaking.
In May of 1996 Jim passed away and in 2004 Margaret moved off the farm and bought a condominium in Innisfail Alberta.
Margaret was tireless in all her efforts and always gave a 110 percent. Margaret’s love and support was always there for her children, and she taught them to be strong, independent individuals; appreciate a job well done and bask in the sense of accomplishment of a good days hard work. She led by example.
Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her children Brian (Betty), Randy (Eileen), Debbie, Aaron and daughter-in-law Lola (Skeeter). She also leaves behind loving grandchildren: David (Denise), Mike, Kristy (Wade), Joe-Lyn, Adam, Josh (Kerystan), Ryan (Zoe) and Karri-Lynn; great-grandchildren a great great grandchild, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Margaret continued to be a strong support for all of her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends and was determined in any way possible to help them with their hurdles whether big or small. Her friends would attest she was a kind, giving, loving woman and would sit together for hours and talk about any and all subjects with ease. Her sense of humor was always embraced and her love always shone through.
For those that knew her, she will be missed dearly and loved always in all of our hearts. Margaret Elizabeth Glasgow has now taken her final dance and rests in peace surrounded by love and serenity.
