Obituary of Arthur William Sweeting
Arthur William “Art” Sweeting passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Center on December 5, 2024, at the age of 98 years.
Art was born February 6th, 1926, in Gull Lake Saskatchewan. Art was a very special, social and spiritual person. Art grew up and spent most of his life in Gull Lake. He worked as an Assistant Agent for the Canadian Pacific Railway for 18 and a half years. Art was also the town Administrator for 20 years, Coroner for 28 years, Justice of the Peace for 28 years, and was the Fire Chief for the Gull Lake volunteer Fire Department. Art also enjoyed being involved in numerous organizations. He was a Clerk of session, an Elder in his church, and loved the choir at the Knox United church. Art was a member of the Masonic Lodge. His favourite verse was John 3, verse 16 and his favourite song was amazing grace. Art loved socializing, playing drums, gardening, golf and playing with his grand dogs.
Art was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and more. He will be lovingly remembered by his Son David (Marilyn), Daughter in-law Fern (son Gordon-deceased), Grandson’s Trenton (Heather) & grand dogs, Daniel (Lee), and great grandson’s Josiah, Oliver and #3 is due in January 2025, as well as other family and friends.
Art was pre-deceased by his wife Lorraine, son Richard Gordon, and daughter Trudy.
In his later years he would be very quiet sometimes and listen when conversations were spoken, he always come out with surprisingly cheeky comments, that made people laugh. HE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL.
