Obituary of Shaunda Lyn Petford
Shaunda Lyn Petford of Clandonald AB passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on November 22, 2024 at the age of 56 years following a long battle with cancer.
Shaunda was born November 20, 1968, in Elk Point to Harvey and Bertha Bowman. She attended Paradise Valley public school and Northwest Central and was an avid member of the Brownies and was also a Candy Striper. She married Scott Petford in June of 1996, then made her home in Red Deer, AB. Shaunda had many jobs where she showed her ability to be creative, passionate, and understand people deeply. Her favorite job was always being a parent though, she loved her children more than anything in this world. She was a fierce, kind, and emotionally intelligent person. She was very generous and the kind of person to give you the shirt off her back if she saw you struggling.
Shaunda was a detective, having seen every episode of forensic files in existence, absolutely nothing could get by her. She also loved the show friends having seen every episode multiple times and could most likely quote every last one word for word. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and passionate way that made them feel like they could do anything and be loved, she could make friends with anyone.
Shaunda is survived by her husband Scott, daughter Tymone (Tanner); son Riley; brothers Ralph (Judy), Ivan (Heather) and sisters, Coreena (John), Darlene (Jerry) and Debra as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially her friend Rick who was there for her through a lot. She is predeceased by her mother Bertha, father Harvey, brother Rene, and nephew Miles.
A memorial for all friends and family to attend will be held in the spring of 2025, details to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be directed to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 - Arnot Avenue, Red Deer AB T4R 3S6.
Condolences to Shaunda’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Petford” in the subject line.
