Obituary of Olha Vasylyna
Olha Vasylyna passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on January 2, 2025, at the age of 83 years. Olha was born in a town of Romny, Sumy region, Ukraine on July 19, 1941. After graduating high school, Olha worked at the local clothing factory. Olha then went to university and got a teaching degree. Olha taught high school chemistry and biology for 42 years.
In 1970, Olha married Mykola Vasylyna, and they were married for 33 years. In 2004, Mykola passed away due to an accident. Olha’s greatest passion in life was gardening, she also loved cuddling up with a warm blanket and sheet. Olha also enjoyed crepes with sour cream, chicken and mashed potatoes, as well as noodle soup.
Olha is lovingly remembered by her daughter Mila (Lyudmyla) Rakos; 1 grandson; 2 brothers, Anatolii and Mykola; and son-in-law Jozsef. Olha was predeceased by her husband Mykola, and her son.
A funeral service will be held at St. George the Martyr Orthodox Church, 4308 50th Ave, Sylvan Lake, Alberta on January 17, 2025, at 9:00 am. The burial will take place at the Alto Reste Cemetery in Red Deer on January 17, 2025, at 12:30 pm.
