Gerald "Gerry" Johnston Obituary

Gerald “Gerry” Johnston of Red Deer AB passed away on January 7, 2025, at the Red Deer Hospice at the age of 78 years. Gerry served in the Royal Canadian Navy the later became a pipefitter, working all over Alberta.  While working in Medicine Hat, he met the love of his life, Loretta. In 1976, the family relocated to Red Deer and in 1978 Gerry went to work for Nova Chemicals where he stayed for 37 years. Gerry gave freely of his time volunteering for Victim Services, Minor Hockey, The Red Deer Regional Hospital, The Lending Cupboard and the Red Deer Food Bank. Gerry is survived by his loving wife Loretta; son Dean (Sharna) as well as numerous other family members and friends. In following with Gerry’s wishes, no funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 - Arnot Ave., Red Deer   AB   T4R 3S6. Condolences to Gerry’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
