Obituary of Jack Petty
Jack Petty, 98, of Red Deer, Alberta passed away on January 8th, 2025, in Red Deer, Alberta. No funeral service will be held. Interment of ashes will be at Dickson Cemetery, Dickson, Alberta, at a later date.
Jack was born in Transcona, Manitoba to Thomas Petty and Grace Petty in August of 1926. He attended high school at Indian Head, Saskatchewan, and graduated in 1943. Upon returning from WWII, Jack went on to earn a certificate in Entomology at the Northern Forestry Centre in Indian Head. He worked for the Northern Forestry Research Centre for 38 years.
In his retirement he enjoyed golf, gardening, travelling, playing crib, and bridge. He was heavily involved in the Sylvan Lake seniors centre for many years until his move to Red Deer where he continued to enjoy family, friends and playing bridge.
Jack is survived by his children Jeffrey Petty (Debra), Jac-Lynn Lind (Don), Kevin Petty (Laurie Murowchuk), Step-son Bob Pinel (Marney), Step-daughter Wanda Hannin, daughter-in-law Patty Petty, as well as 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack is preceded in death by his wife Shirley, son Douglas Petty, sister Connie Wallenburg (Walter).
